I dislike ‘articles’ with slideshow click-gathering monetisation gimmicks, but sometimes you have to roll with the punches.
The New York Times features various revisions of recent well known novel covers, with commentary from the designers. It’s a really good look if you’re interested in cover design in general, or are looking to design or source your own covers:
